More than just knowledge, Thoth is credited with many inventions among which are writing, astronomy, geometry and many clever mechanical devices used by the ancient Egyptian people.
It is for this reason that Thoth has laid claim to the title "god of technology" and in this sense he is the father, not only of computers, but since he has given us mathematics and writing, he may be considered the founder of software as well.
Thoth was the teacher of both the gods and of humans. He is said to stand ready to aid any who have a need of his knowledge and in the past, as the patron of all learning and the arts, he bestowed his gifts generously. In fact, it was ofter said of the clever, both people and devices, that "here stands a blessing from Thoth."
